The quiet calendar habit that improves Copilot results

☕ Tech Tips & Tales from The MS Office Maestro

Your weekly guided mini lesson on Microsoft, Copilot & smart working

☕ A note from me

A warm welcome to all our new subscribers!
There’s been a lovely flurry of you joining Tech Tips & Tales recently. So, if this is your first edition, I’m delighted you’re here.

You may notice the newsletter looks a little different this year. I’ve refined the format to make it cleaner, quicker to read and easier for me to create each week consistently. My goal is always the same: to give you genuinely useful tips that help you work smarter with Microsoft 365 and Copilot.

I’d love your help with one quick thing:
👉 Tell me what you think of this new, simpler style.

There’s a short poll below; your vote helps me shape future editions so they’re exactly what you want.

On a Personal Note

It’s been a wonderfully busy start to the year. By the time this hits your inbox, I’ll have delivered:

  • Module 3 of Microsoft 365 Essentials with Copilot (this week was all about PowerPoint)
  • A webinar for Smart Events
  • A planning call with my Australian clients for a new 5‑session series

Plus, a lovely surprise, a client returned after 2 years to book a Lunch & Learn! And of course, PA Show prep is now in full swing 🎉

This Wednesday (21st) is also my birthday but instead of celebrating on the day, my husband is taking me out for dinner on Thursday evening.

Why Thursday? Because I’ll be delivering a webinar on Wednesday night! If you’re also a January‑birthday person, consider this a little celebratory high‑five from me to you 🎉💛

💡 This week’s mini lesson: Did you know Copilot reads your calendar like a detective?

If your meeting titles are vague, summaries will be too. Copilot pulls a lot from your calendar. If meeting titles are vague, the output won’t be great.

What to try:

Pick one meeting and rename it so the title clearly says what it’s about. Instead of “Catch-up,” try “Project X – Budget Review.” It’s a tiny tweak with a big payoff.

🧠 Why this works at work

  • Clearer meetings
  • Better summaries
  • Less mental load

⚡ Try this

Tidy just one recurring meeting. You’ll notice the difference immediately.

Behind the scenes

Calendar habits come up very early in Copilot training. People are amazed at how much clarity improves when titles stop being cryptic.

Closing Thought

If your week feels full to the brim (mine certainly does!), remember that even one tiny tidy‑up, a clearer meeting title, a quick calendar tweak, can give you more breathing room than you’d expect. Little things really do lighten the load.

And with my own birthday this Wednesday, I’m reminding myself of the same advice: celebrate the small wins, make space where you can and enjoy the moments in between. Here’s to a week of clarity, calm and maybe even a slice of cake. 🎂💛
