Introducing Our New Newsletter Format: Tech Tips & Tales from The MS Office Maestro

Tech Tips & Tales from The MS Office Maestro

Welcome Welcome ! Reader

Great to have you here. You will find a mix of personal anecdotes, training news and tips in the newsletter.

Shelley's News

It has been quite a week! Last week, I mistakenly sent out a blank newsletter having thought that I had unscheduled it to go! Consequently, a few of you wrote to tell me about it and I had just realised. An apology was dispatched immediately!

So this week, I want to make up for it and give you even more value.

You will also see that I am testing out a new format for the newsletter and I would love your feedback - please let me know that you have received it and what you think of the new format.

Back to my news, we had an amazing 3 weeks in Florida with the 2 of our kids who live there, along with their children - much fun was had by all.

The first week was taken up with following up after the PA Show which now feels like a lifetime ago! If you are receiving the newsletter following the show, then welcome again 😊

If you have joined me here on the recommendation of someone else, then thank you for joining and do let me know what you like!

Training News

I am undertaking a course on AI, which will lead to a Microsoft Certification badge. I am very much looking forward to this!

Not much training is booked in the next couple of weeks as it is the festival of Passover, which entails quite a lot of work. I am fortunate that I can build my schedule in a flexible way.

I have several sessions booked in. A series of mini workshops for Bookboon - I have over 13 titles with Bookboon and am now providing some online mini boost sessions. The first 3 are on Excel and the next 3 are PowerPoint.

This week's Microsoft Tip

Quicksteps in New Outlook

Quick Steps in the new Outlook are designed to help you automate common or repetitive tasks by applying multiple actions to email messages with a single click. This feature allows you to quickly manage your mailbox by creating shortcuts for tasks you perform frequently, such as moving messages to a specific folder, marking emails as read/unread, or flagging them for follow-up.

I use Quicksteps mainly for filing messages, you know, the ones that come in regularl,y either by project or by sender. It is then easy to simply click on the Quickstep to send the email to the right place.

Here are the steps:

  1. Navigate to Mail from the navigation pane.
  2. Select the Home tab.
  3. Click the drop-down menu next to Quick Steps and choose Manage Quick Steps.
  4. In the Settings window, select +New Quick Step.
  5. Name your Quick Step and choose the actions you want it to perform.
  6. Add additional actions if needed.
  7. Save your Quick Step.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Readers Questions

Introducing a new section to the newsletter - Readers Questions. Write in with your questions and each week I will feature one along with the answer.

This week I needed to print my calendar off - sometimes it is easier to plan with a pen and paper. I realised that some of you might be asking the same question.

Let me know what you think of this idea - I really want to know.

How do I print off my Calendar in the New Outlook and make it look like a week to view.

Here is how:

Arrange the calendar as you wish to print it.

  1. Click Print
  2. Make sure the correct calendar is selected
  3. Choose the view - Week, Month etc.
  4. Choose the Layout
  5. Choose the time range - all day or part of a day
  6. Show the mini month and print a detailed agenda - check the box if you wish to do this
  7. Click Print

Microsoft 365 Fundamentals with AI and Copilot

Dear Reader As you will have seen from my previous emails I am launching a new course in September. Microsoft 365 Fundamentals with AI and Copilot.
